Several years back Cray Morrison, during a long, cold January winter, facing an uncertain and unknown future after being made to “walk the plank” at his job then, was fiddling around with some keyboard pad sounds from his Native Instruments Collection of like a gazillion sounds. He found some really peculiar patches that really set the mood, and out came this Pink Floyd sounding thing.
The keyboard “constructs” didn’t take long, but if anyone knows anything about guitar playing, trying to emulate David Gilmour is no easy feat. 8-12 hours over a few days on a few minute long solos and this end product is just where it had to sit….it’s not perfect, but in it’s crudeness is a sincerity and sincerely one of his best constructed songs in general. The mood is not artificial. There’s a sense of dread in those opening phrases on the keys, and once the band kicks in it’s two bricks shy of being 1975 and perhaps hearing a band jam out a song that could have been Pink Floyd maybe. You tell me.
